Who's eligible to join?
Although Cbus is the industry super fund for the construction and building industry, anyone in any industry can join.
Many Australians are now eligible to choose their own super fund – even if their employer is not currently paying super to the fund. If you’re not sure whether you’re eligible to choose Cbus as your fund, you’re employer will be able to help you.
Generally, you will be eligible to choose your own super fund if:
- your super is paid under a federal award or a former state award, now known as ‘notional agreement preserving state award’,
- you are employed under another award or agreement that doesn’t require super support, or
- you are not employed under any award or industrial agreement (including contractors paid principally for their labour).
